The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining me!

We’re entering a new world in which data may be more important than software.   -Tim O’Reilly

Why I chose Data Science?

I was always interested in numbers, logic and finding patterns.  As a kid i was also good with Mathematics but i never was going to consider it as a profession. Being a technology enthusiast I achieved bachelors of Engineering degree in electronics and telecommunication and started working as an Embedded Engineer.

I’m also a huge football fanatic, I always believed that there’s a pattern to how things happen on a football ground. Collecting match stats, player stats and predicting was one kind of a hobby for me, I took part in various fantasy sports competitions and wrote blogs to advise people. In one of the competitions I even ended up in 0.3% of some 5 million competitors, but i never realized how it could be a part of my profession.

One day a friend of mine who is a Computer science graduate was working on some data science case study and I was very interested to solve that, he realized that I was good at it and suggested about this challenging field of data science. After considerable research on Data science and Machine learning, I came to know that it is the best fit for my interests and future career. So I decided to quit my job and started learning extensively. With every new problem came a different way of understanding Data and it kept forcing me to learn more on the topics.

So far it has been an amazing journey, thanks to data science community.

The field of data science is evolving into one of the fastest-growing and most in-demand fields in the world. Organizations across industries are looking to make sense of the data they can now collect from new technologies – from predicting the next hot product to determining the risk of an infectious disease outbreak.
